Short Answer

It’s possible to know about God without actually knowing Him personally. A lot of people attend church, believe certain things intellectually, and still feel spiritually disconnected.

Jesus didn’t come to offer empty religion. He came to invite you into a real relationship with Him.

Why do I still feel disconnected from God?

Sometimes faith becomes routine.

You show up. You try to be good. You know the right answers. But deep down, something still feels distant or incomplete.

That tension can feel confusing, especially if you’ve been around church your whole life.

In the sermon, Pastor Steve talked about growing up in church and believing in Jesus mentally without fully surrendering his life to Him.

A lot of people relate to that more than they admit.

What did Jesus actually say about real faith?

Jesus challenged people who thought religious activity alone made them right with God.

In Matthew 7:24–27, Jesus talks about building your life on solid rock instead of shifting sand. The point is that real faith isn’t just hearing truth — it’s building your life on Him.

The gospel is not “be a good person.”

The gospel is that Jesus died and rose again to bring us into relationship with God through grace.

Ephesians 2:8–9 says salvation is a gift, not something we earn.

And Romans 10:9 speaks about believing and surrendering to Jesus as Lord — not just acknowledging facts about Him.

Real faith is relational, not just informational.

How do I take my faith seriously for the first time?

Start with honesty.

Tell God exactly where you are spiritually — even if that includes doubt, confusion, numbness, or fear.

You don’t need perfect words.

You can simply say:
“Jesus, I want something real with You.”

Read one Gospel account like John or Luke and pay attention to who Jesus actually is, not just who people say He is.

And if you’ve never truly surrendered your life to Him, today can be the start of that conversation.
