In Mark 11, during the final week of Jesus’ life, he walks into the temple in Jerusalem during Passover and finds something shocking. The place meant for prayer and connection with God had turned into a crowded marketplace. Merchants were selling animals, money changers were profiting, and the very space where outsiders could worship had been pushed aside. Seeing the corruption and distraction, Jesus overturns the tables and clears the temple, declaring that God’s house was meant to be a house of prayer for all nations.
