Gratitude isn’t just reacting when life feels good, it is learning to pause and remember who God is no matter what we’re walking through. Ezra’s people stood for hours listening to Scripture because they were rediscovering the God who stayed faithful in exile. That same posture shows up in 1 Thessalonians 5:18, where we’re told to “give thanks in all circumstances.” Not for everything, but in everything. Gratitude clears our minds, recenters our hearts, and pulls us out of the spiral of fear or frustration. When we praise God’s character, powerful, patient, present, we find hope rising again.
