We all say we “love” a lot of things, family, sports, cookies, or even root beer, but the Bible reminds us not to confuse temporary loves with what truly lasts. John teaches that there’s a difference between craving what the world offers, money, pleasure, pride, and living with eternal perspective. Real love isn’t about stuff or status, it’s about agape love, the sacrificial love of Jesus. Everything the world promises fades, but God’s love never does. Following Jesus means shifting our focus from short-term satisfaction to eternal life, freedom, and purpose that can’t be taken away.
