We’ve all experienced the gap between expectation and reality. In John 12, the crowd welcomes Jesus into Jerusalem during Passover, shouting “Hosanna” and waving palm branches. They expect a political king who will overthrow Rome and restore their nation. Instead, Jesus rides in on a donkey, fulfilling prophecy and revealing a different kind of kingdom. He didn’t come to conquer Rome but to conquer sin and death. The same tension shows up in our lives when God doesn’t meet our expectations. The real question becomes who is king. Peace begins when we surrender control and trust Jesus fully.
