SHORT ANSWER
Fear grows when your problems become bigger than your perspective. Jesus invites you to find courage, not because life is easy, but because He is with you.

Why do I keep feeling afraid of what might happen?

Fear often comes from realizing how much you cannot control.

You can plan carefully, make wise decisions, and still face situations you never expected. A health issue, relationship struggle, financial pressure, or uncertain future can make you feel like everything is falling apart.

In Matthew 14, the disciples were terrified because the storm felt stronger than they were.

They saw the waves before they recognized Jesus.

We do the same thing. We can become so focused on what is going wrong that we lose sight of the One who is still present.

Does Jesus actually help with fear?

When Jesus approached the disciples, He said, โ€œTake courage. It is I. Donโ€™t be afraidโ€ (Matthew 14:27).

He did not tell them to ignore reality. The storm was real. The waves were real.

But Jesus wanted them to know He was greater than what they feared.

Psalm 46:1 describes God as โ€œour refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.โ€ The promise is not that trouble never comes. The promise is that God is present when it does.

Jesus does not just give advice from a distance. He steps into the storm with us.

Whatโ€™s one step I can take when fear feels overwhelming?

Name what you are afraid of.

Bring it honestly to Jesus instead of carrying it alone. Ask yourself, โ€œAm I focusing only on the waves, or am I making room to trust Jesus in this?โ€

Courage is not pretending nothing is wrong.

Courage is remembering you are not alone.
