SHORT ANSWER
Trust begins when you stop waiting for every answer before taking the next step. Jesus invites people to follow Him one step at a time.

Why is it so hard to step into the unknown?

Most people want certainty before they move forward.

We want the relationship fixed, the plan confirmed, the outcome guaranteed, and then we will trust.

But faith often works differently.

When Peter saw Jesus walking on water in Matthew 14, Jesus simply invited him to come. Peter had to decide whether he would stay where things felt familiar or trust Jesus enough to step forward.

Following Jesus is not about having every detail figured out first.

It starts with trust.

What does Jesus say about trusting Him?

Peter was able to walk forward when his focus was on Jesus. When he became overwhelmed by the wind and waves, he started sinking.

But Jesus did not abandon him.

Matthew 14:31 says Jesus immediately reached out His hand and caught Peter.

That moment reveals something important about God’s character. Jesus is not waiting for perfect people with perfect faith. He meets people who are willing to reach for Him.

Proverbs 3:5–6 encourages us to trust God instead of depending only on our own understanding because He sees what we cannot.

What’s one step I can take toward trusting God?

Ask yourself, “What is the next right step Jesus is inviting me to take?”

Maybe it is asking for help. Starting a conversation. Forgiving someone. Praying honestly for the first time.

You do not need to have the whole journey figured out.

Just take the next step toward Jesus.
