Short Answer
Feeling ordinary does not mean your life is insignificant. Jesus has always worked through imperfect people with ordinary gifts. What you already have may matter more than you realize.
Why do I compare myself to everyone else?
It’s easy to look around and feel like everyone else has something you don’t.
More talent.
More confidence.
More success.
More influence.
Comparison convinces you that what you have is too small to matter.
But sometimes the things you overlook about yourself are exactly the things someone else needs.
Your story matters. Your kindness matters. Your ability to encourage, listen, create, lead, or care for people matters.
You may be dismissing something God wants to use.
Can God really use someone like me?
The Bible is full of unlikely people God used in meaningful ways.
1 Corinthians 1:27 says God often chooses what seems weak or overlooked to show His strength. The point is not that people are impressive. The point is that God is able to work through anyone who trusts Him.
Jesus did the same thing with His closest followers. He chose fishermen, outsiders, and people with complicated stories.
He didn’t look for perfect people. He invited willing people.
How do I stop feeling like I’m not enough?
Try changing the question.
Instead of asking:
“What am I missing?”
Ask:
“What has God already given me?”
You don’t have to copy someone else’s life to make a difference. Pay attention to the opportunities, experiences, and relationships already in front of you.
God created you to be you.
