Short Answer
Admitting you need help can feel uncomfortable because it requires honesty and vulnerability. But healing often begins when you stop hiding what is hurting you and allow Jesus into the places youโve kept covered.
Why do I pretend everything is fine when itโs not?
Most people donโt enjoy admitting theyโre struggling.
It can feel easier to say, โIโm fine,โ than to admit youโre overwhelmed, hurt, addicted, angry, or afraid.
Sometimes staying the same feels safer because change requires facing things we would rather avoid.
But the things we refuse to acknowledge are often the things that continue controlling us.
Can God handle the parts of my life I try to hide?
Jesus consistently moved toward people who were hurting.
In John 5, Jesus didnโt avoid the man who had been stuck for decades. He approached him, saw him, and offered healing.
Jesus also said in Matthew 11:28, โCome to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.โ
Notice Jesus didnโt say, โCome when you have everything figured out.โ
He invites tired, imperfect, struggling people to come close.
How do I start being honest about what Iโm facing?
Start with one honest conversation.
Maybe thatโs a prayer where you tell God what is actually happening. Maybe itโs opening up to a trusted person instead of carrying everything alone.
You donโt have to fix everything overnight.
But freedom begins when you stop pretending you arenโt stuck and allow Jesus to meet you there.
